Looks very clean. I approve. Strongly. The only thing I have found so far that I find slightly anoying is that the scroll over boxes, for an instance when you hover over the profile link, don't disappear without selecting somewhere else on the screen, clicking that is. It's something one might get used to in the future though. Good job Admins&Mods.

EDIT. I found that opening Tinychat replaces the UPSB page, where as before it created a new tab.

I have observed one (very extremely minor) problem. Let me explain.

So in the top right corner there are buttons for your profile name, inbox, and alerts. There appears to be a low character limit for the profile button. Mine just displays "Green Caff..." However, when I hover my mouse over the button it becomes highlighted, and the button is shown to extend a lot longer than the space the character limit allows.

So basically what I am saying is that it seems like there's no reason for the low character limit if the button is long enough to display a good amount of characters.

EDIT: A re-sizable shoutbox would be awesome.

That's just the user interface. I can't find any practical way of disabling that function. The TC tab is a node, so it redirects as if it was a forum page. I'll see if I can fix it.

That's just how the widget works. It doesn't give me any option to make it a static entry box. By default it automatically collapses.

I'll see if I can find a way to enlarge the profile pop-up window so it wont truncate the username. User customizable SB size does not seem possible. However, there is a full page SB version and I believe there is a pop-out feature that you can resize to your liking.

Well done and thank you for v5!!! it looks amazing. However the Show Off Your Pens thread is annoying. Is there anyway to reduce the image size for the pictures. It looks gigantic. xD

In addition @Zkhan when you post a threa/post there is an option saying watch this thread. It is ticked/selected as a default, can you please change the default option to unticked/deselcted

Please. Is it possible to get some more customization features for our profiles? Even if it's just custom skins like we had on v4. Many thanks.~

    Fraction Stop

You can change this yourself under preferences

EDIT: I have a recommendation, probably best fulfilled by @Froggy, I think that there should be the SOYP Pics thread and SOYP Discussion thread like there was on v4.

Zkhan, I think I explained my problem rather poorly, because I don't think you quite understand what I meant. Sorry about that.

See the highlighted button extends beyond what the character limit allows. I think you thought that I was talking about the actual tab that pops up, not the button itself. Also, if you cannot fix it, that is okay. It's a very very minor problem.

EDIT: May I suggest moving the "Departments" section to the bottom of the page? It is blank for many of us.

I can't find any way to automatically resize the text in the profile tab.

One more minor thing I noticed: The fundamental thread section says "Reserved for discussion on the four fundamental tricks (ThumbAround, Charge, Sonic, and FingerPass) and their simpler variations." I think the word "simpler" should be changed to "simple" because the reverses are not necessarily simpler than the normals.

Can you PM in sb please. If there already is a pm option, can you make a more simple to find.

simpler variations means that the variations are simpler than the other variations, for example, reverse sonic vs flush sonic. in this case, "simpler" isn't comparing the fundamentals to the variations of the fundamentals, it's comparing the easy / simpler variations of the fundamentals to the harder / more complicated variations of the fundamentals.

Can you change the size of the message that pops up telling you to wait x seconds before shouting again. Its too big and obtrusive. I believe that pops up when changes are saved too. Like when you unwatch a thread.

While I agree that it was implied that "simpler" was referring to other harder variations, grammar does not agree. There was nothing in that sentence that told me that "simpler" was referring to the other variations. The sentence was telling me, grammatically, that "simpler" was referring to the Normals. I don't doubt that practically everyone will figure out what "simpler" is supposed to be referring to, I'm just saying that if we want to be grammatically correct (and we don't have to want that), then we should change it.
  17. halcyon_k

    halcyon_k Old-Timer

    that is grammatically correct.

You are right about that. It is grammatically correct. So is the sentence, "One morning a man shot an elephant in his pajamas." The problem is (and perhaps I mis-stated the problem before) the meaning of the sentence. People infer that the man was wearing pajamas when he shot an elephant. But grammar says that the elephant was inside the man's pajamas when the man shot it. Likewise, people can infer that "simpler" is referring to other variations, but grammar says that "simpler" is referring to the Normals.

can you state the rule or whatever it is that says that "simpler" is referring to the normals? because in all the years that i've been educated, and all the books that i've read, and all the research papers that i've read, the "simpler" is referring to the other variations.
